Keeping a 3 Year Old Busy On A Road Trip

It’s Official.  We will be going to Disney this Fall.  My parents, my three year old and I will be traveling down to Orlando via my car with a stopover both ways at a friend’s house in North Carolina.  We are happy to have our car down there should we want to leave Disney property for other adventures or skip the bus transportation.  We are also happy to save on 4 airfare tickets. On the flip side, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit concerned about making such a long drive with my little guy.

So I decided to turn to Amazon to find some great car treats.  I figured every hour or so on the way down, we can give my little one a new special treat to keep him occupied.  My first haul of car treats has arrived.  Want to know what’s made the cut?  See below!

  1. View-Master 3D Mickey Mouse Deluxe Set.  I used to LOVE this old school toy!  I am so excited for my 3 year old to give it a whirl and I am hoping it occupies a good amount of time while we are headed down to our vacation.

  2. Skillmatics Art Activity - Dot It Disney Mickey and Friends.  This is a great car playset that encourages kids to use stickers to fill in pictures.  I thought it was a nice spin on normal stickers which are great ways to practice those motor skills!

  3. VTech Disney Junior Mickey Mouse Funhouse Explore and Learn Book.  My little dude loves to read and especially loves books with any sort of interaction.  He’ll read them again and again and again so I knew I wanted to find a book that would allow him that extra bit of participation.

  4. Disney Mickey Magic Ink Coloring Book Set.  My three year old LOVES these and they have definitely been successful in helping mommy achieve some active quiet time during busy days at home.  I ordered these Disney and Minion ones because it featured a great sampling of his favorite characters.

  5. Disney - Where's Mickey Mouse - A Look and Find Book Activity Book.  Think Where’s Waldo but with Mickey!  I LOVED doing Where’s Waldo books when I was little so this is definitely a nostalgia-buy– on theme of course since it includes the Mouse!

  6. Dinosaur Montessori Toys Preschool Learning Toys.  Ok this one isn’t Disney but I liked it as a way to practice little skills like buckles and tying shoes while we are doing our travels.  My version of pre-school homework for our vacation.

I’ll probably hit up some local stores for a few more things to have at-the-ready, but here’s what we have so far.  Let me know if you try any out to keep your little onces entertained on any fall road trips!
