Trying to squeeze some steps in? Here are some great central NJ walks that are toddler friendly!
Boardwalks. And not the busy ones with rides and arcades. If you are just looking for a stroll, simpler boardwalks like Lavalette or Spring Lake are the way to go! And maybe, if everyone is good, you can stop nearby to share an ice cream!
Manasquan Bike Trail. Formally called the Edgar Felix Memorial Bikeway. I love this paved trail that even goes alongside a park so you can take a break to hit the swings or a slide! This path allows you to enjoy lots of shade and has a good amount of parking at the entrance. It also doesn’t allow for run-away-toddlers to get too far off the trail which is helpful for those quick runners! Don't plan to walk all of it-- it's pretty long!
Brick Reservoir. This has to be one of the most peaceful spots! It’s an easy walk around the reservoir and the path is no stranger to strollers. The reservoir is well maintained and lined with benches for a nice waterfront rest whenever you’d like. There’s also water stations on the route. The reservoir can get windy and most of your walk will be in direct sun so keep that in mind!
Lavalette Bay. This is a great sunset walk! Watch as the sun sets over the bay as you follow the sidewalk past parks and gazebos. Maybe even walk the dock over the bay and see what the crabbers have caught!
Traders Cove Park. Walk back behind the park here (after testing out the playground of course) and you’ll be walking next to the water. Enjoy watching the boats as you walk past the marina area and down towards the bridge. You can even walk under the bridge which is pretty fun! There’s usually a lot of summer activity here so there’s a lot to see! My toddler LOVES walking this path!
