Families have been bringing little ones to enjoy the Jersey shore for decades. In fact, the reason I grew up here was because my father loved his childhood experiences down here so much. The beach is initially what brings everyone close, but there are so many other fun things that you can also enjoy! Here are some of my favorite picks for toddlers here at the shore for you to check out this summer.
Trader's Cove Park in Brick. I LOVE this park and we visit it ALL the time. This park is right next to the Mantoloking Bridge and has beautiful bay views. The playground is GREAT for all ages but we especially love visiting to watch the boats at the Trader's Cove Marina! You can watch the boats in the bay, count the ones that go under the bridge, see how many are coasting across the water and even walk the pathways to see how the fisherman and crabbers are doing. There are bathrooms at the park and picnic areas. Hands down it is my favorite summer park! There is even a concert series that happens here during the summer so you can enjoy some music while the kids try out all the slides!
Music Man Ice Cream Shop in Lavalette. I'm a theatre girl at heart, so I'm always down for dinner and a show. Make it ICE CREAM and a show, and it is even better! Music Man offers short cabarets and sundaes in a really fun summer experience that is wonderfully unique and special. We've been several times and the family friendly environment really makes it enjoyable for ALL AGES. You'll be served decadent ice cream sundaes by singing waiters and waitresses in that old soda shop style venue. Don't be surprised if they get you singing too! (Seriously-- if you are overly shy, this isn't the place for you!) Make sure you reserve tickets in advance because this venue DOES fill up. It's also important to note that it is a cash only venue. We already have our tickets for this year and can't wait.
Argos Farms Blueberry Festival in Forked River. Does your kid inhale berries like mine does? Then this Blueberry Festival needs to be on your list! At Argos Farms, you will see animals, play games, ride the hay slide, try the obstacle course, pick your own blueberries, listen to live music and enjoy pinterest worthy Blueberry coffees, donuts, and smoothies! The festival is June 21-July 7th. Bring your sunscreen because most of the farm is in direct sun. We had a really fun Mommy/Son Date here last year and I just might try to make a pie with all the blueberries we plan to pick this time around!
