While pregnant, I often daydreamed about days sitting on the bleachers watching my son enjoy playing the sport of his choice. I think extracurriculars are such a fantastic learning experience for kids of all ages-- and I don't mind the idea of someone else trying to tire my child out so he sleeps good at night! At 3 years old, there aren't many options for sports quite yet (once they hit 4 there are a LOT more options) but I did find a gem in the Soccer Shots program!
Soccer Shots offer classes for kids as young as age 2 (and up to age 8)! They are short sessions that happen all over local communities for littles that need to run around and learn in a small group setting. Our instructors do a wonderful job at age appropriate game-based learning. They patiently help the kids learn some basic soccer skills in fun and silly ways and they keep them running and playing for a good 30 minutes. My little guy LOVES it and we are really happy with the program.
What's great about soccer shots is that there are so many options of programs. If the date in your town doesn't work for you, you are likely to find something a town or two over if you are willing to take a short drive. I also liked that since I had to sign-up late, I got a pro-rated price and I felt like that was really cool!
We are having so much fun in this program! For more info and to find a program near you, visit www.soccershots.com.
