Up Early on a Saturday? DO THIS!

If your toddler has you up early on weekends, or even if you all slept in a little later, you can start your day perusing this week's freshest fruits and veggies at the Brick Farmer's Market. This popular outdoor market in Brick runs all summer and through September 30th.

When it comes to summer eats, my toddler loves watermelon, guacamole and corn and we've been able to find all of those delicious options at the Brick Farmer's Market. I LOVE pulling together a colorful organic salad from the vendors there (my most recent creation ingredients were from Ramblin Sol' farm!). I've even found great specialty items like a gluten free coffee cake and peanut butter cookies from 502 Baking Company that even gluten lovers enjoyed.

What makes this market even MORE family friendly than others is that it is right next to the Windward Beach playground! Shop and then play! Or play and then shop! YOU get fresh delicious fruits and veggies for the week and your toddler gets to go down their favorite slide 15 times. Everyone wins!

Pro-tip-- the later it gets, the busier it gets. When I know it's going to be a hot day, we try to hit the market as early as possible since a little more than half of the market is in direct sun. Shopping early also helps if you are looking to get the freshly prepared guacamole there (which I HIGHLY recommend you do, along with their mango salsa!). I've seen that line get about 15 people deep! Shout out to So Good Guacamole and Dip Co!

There are a few food trucks regularly at the markets so feel free to come hungry. I've had a tasty porkroll egg and cheese empanada from Simply Sofrito and a delectable smoothie from Shore Shake on separate visits to the market. Some booths will even offer samples of their products for you to munch on and try.

The market also includes products from local breweries and distilleries, incredible locally sourced flowers, fresh mozzarella, doggy treats and so much more. For a full list of vendors, visit the Brick website here.

So pack up the family (and the dog! Dogs are welcome too!) and check out an upcoming market before the season is over. Hit the park and have a picnic on the adjacent mini beach at Windward. Eat some healthy snacks and prepare those immune systems for a strong back to school start by eating some fresh local food!
